Hop Stuff Rescue Fund
A huge part of why we started Hop Stuff was to raise awareness for small animal welfare and to rescue and rehome animals in need. We have already had some amazing success stories and hope to continue our work improving the lives of small pets in Taranaki.

We are currently looking for foster carers in the Taranaki region, so please reach out to us by emailing info@hopstuff.co.nz if you can help.

We want to ensure that all of our rescues are vaccinated, de-sexed, given appropriate veterinary care and rehabilitated, which all adds up, so please donate to the Hop Stuff Rescue fund below if you can.

We really appreciate your support!
Available for Adoption
The following little rascals are available for adoption. Please contact us if you think you can provide them with a forever home. All animals are based in Taranaki and are subject to our adoption criteria listed below.
We currently do not have any rabbits for adoption.
If you are interested in adopting, please check out Westley's World The Warren or your local SPCA.
Success Stories

Bubbles
Little Bubbles was found in a creek by some children and was in a pretty bad way. She had sand in her eyes and couldn't use her back legs. We picked her up and the amazing team at Vets 4 Pets nursed her back to health.
It is usually quite hard to find forever homes for wild bunnies but Bubbles got lucky!
She now lives with her lovely bun mum in Palmerston North and is an adored and cherished member of the family.

Krispie
This fuzzy little Guinea Pig was living alone and not getting the attention she really needed. She was brought into our care and by the next day was munching away on some apple with her new friend Nibbles in a loving home that a wee piggie could only dream of! She has settled in nicely with her new buddy and is now living her best life!
Krispie and Nibbles are besties and we couldn't be happier for her.

Thumper
Thumper escaped her home in a New Plymouth suburb and after days of searching her family were unable to find her. After enlisting the help of Hop Stuff and Buddy the rescue dog, Thumper was reunited with her hoomans, We printed flyers with pictures of Thumper to put in letter boxes and spoke with people on the street. She was eventually found hiding under a car and after a high octane chase and some back yard trespassing she was home safe and sound!
Adoption Criteria
Our aim is to adopt each pet to the most suitable owner. We reserve the right to decline any application at our discretion and to request proof of ID. You must meet the criteria below to be eligible to adopt. Adoption fees apply.

-
You must be over 18 to adopt a small pet.
-
Allow at least 3x3m of living area or give your pet free range indoors . Please let us know if you need help with this as we are happy to provide bunny proofing tips. Ensure there are no harmful objects that your pet can hurt themselves with i.e heavy objects that can fall, small spaces they can get stuck in, unsafe plants or wood they can chew etc.
-
You must own the property in which the animal is to live or have permission from the property owner to have the pet on the premises. There is nothing worse than forming a bond with your pet and then having to part with it, this is super stressful for you and your fur baby!
-
Understand that small pets have very specific needs and vet bills can be expensive! They must have regular check ups and vaccinations and can have costly health issues.
-
Rabbits can live for between 6-10 years, so you need to be prepared for a lifelong commitment
-
Have patience and time for your pet! Small pets need at least an hour each day to bond and interact with their hoomans.
-
Ensure you do not have any dogs or cats that could harm or frighten your small pet or any other animals that could cause them stress or injury. Please note: Rabbits and Guinea pigs cannot be housed together.
-
Provide clean water at all times, unlimited access to hay and give your small pet enrichment and things to play with and chew.
-
Be aware that rabbits and guinea pigs are not 'starter pets' and are not recommended for small children. They are very sensitive creatures and do not take well to loud noises or scary things! They also have fragile little bodies and must be handled with extreme care. Small pets do not like to be handled/picked up, so we suggest getting down on their level and allowing them to build trust on their terms.
-
Ensure you have someone who can give your pet the care it needs and monitor its health when you go away.
-
If you already own a rabbit, please be aware that only male/female pairs are recommended and both rabbits must be de-sexed. Bonding rabbits takes a lot of time and patience and does not always work out, so be prepared to house your bunnies separately if needed!
-
You must read the Getting Started files on the Westley's World website prior to adoption. This will ensure you are prepared to bring your new pet into the home and have a good idea of what is involved.

Please email us at info@hopstuff.co.nz if you meet the above criteria and would like to adopt.
